Katherine Anderson is the award-winning author of Hospital Hill and Shadows in the Ward, the first two entries in her Asylum series, as well as a number of books in the Images of America collection on the history of individual institutions. She is also an urban exploration and fashion photographer having photographed nearly fifty abandoned asylums and state schools as well as hotels, houses, schools, and industrial sites. Her work has been featured in The Boston Globe, on The Mercurial, and on Mad in America, as well as on New England Public Radio, Cambridge Community Television, and Belchertown Community Television. Katherine was also a guest lecturer at the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn. In her spare time she is the director of RFK Academy in Springfield and the president of the Belchertown State School Friends Association.
